Party Charcoal Spit Hire

Setting Up your Party Charcoal Spit and/or Party Gas Spit

Instructions

Attach the legs to the main body of the spit. Attach the rotisserie frame mount and motor to the legs. Place the unit on a level area clear of combustible items.

Keep the motor unplugged until the spit is fully set up, loaded and balanced. Place the charcoal briquettes in two evenly spaced piles (charcoal spit only)

When the coals are ready, bank charcoal along both 5 foot lengths, keeping the middle clear. If desired, a layer of sand can be placed in the centre of the spit unit to absorb dripping grease. (charcoal spit only)

NOTE: No charcoal should be placed directly underneath the spit.

Operating Instructions

Keep the motor unplugged until the rotisserie is completely set up, loaded and balanced. We recommend that the spit be loaded prior to igniting the charcoal.

Place one support bar clamp on the spit and slide the clamp all the way to the end of the bar, followed by one skewer with prongs facing inward. Insert pointed end of the spit through the centre of the length of the meat. Before proceeding, make sure the meat is balanced on the spit.

When the meat is balanced, install the second skewer and support bar clamp. If cooking a whole animal, secure support bar in between the legs. If you are cooking a large roast, use the support bar as needed to secure the load.

Make sure that the meat and the support bar are centred between the rotisserie height adjustment posts and that the posts are the same height.

Tighten the screws on all the items on the bar. Note: – as the meat cooks, shrinkage may occur and the skewers may need to be readjusted to hold the meat firmly.

Remove the entire spit assembly and ignite the coals. When coals are ready and placed properly, place the rotisserie spit with the meat centred in the spit end mount and motor mount. Where the spit makes contact with these mounts , lubricate with a little cooking oil.

Plug into an approved outdoor electrical outlet.  We recommend adding approx 3 – 4 kg of coal every hour. (charcoal spit only)

Care & Cleaning

When finished cooking, turn the motor off and unplug it from the electrical outlet.

When the coals are cool, collect the ashes and dispose of contents in an approved manner.

Clean the firebox and spit hardware with a solution of hot soapy water. Excessive carbon build up on the spit accessories can be removed using a non metallic scouring pad.

WARNING Never pour water on hot coals to extinguish. This can warp the firebox, resulting in a replacement cost of the unit.
